Season's Greetings with Spellbinders Dazzling Diamonds

Hello and welcome! I have another Christmas card to add to my stash for the holidays.

This time I used the Spellbinders Dazzling Diamonds Hot Foil plate without the foil, but as a letterpress into some card stock.  You don't have to use these dies with foil if you don't want to or if you don't have the foiling part of your die cutting machine.  These dies make gorgeous backgrounds without foil too!

Here's how I did it:

I took the plate and made a sandwich for my Spellbinders Platium 6 as follows:

Main platform plate, tan rubber embossing mat, cardstock, hot foil plate face down toward cardstock, and top cutting plate. (I needed one thin cardstock shim to get it just perfect, but you can experiment with your own machine to see if you need one or not.)

The plate will press the pattern into your cardstock. I would like to recommend that you use watercolor or soft cardstock for best results.  Just be careful as if you use the rough side of the watercolor paper you will get a much more textured look to your background when you add the inks.  I used the smooth side.

I took it out and added lot of Distress Inks direct putting the ink pad directly to paper in greens, then finished it up with Festive Berries. The end result combination of these colors was a deep Christmas red background with the depressed pattern in white. Here's another look:

I cut the background 2.75" by 5.75" and then added it to a mini slimline card base that was 3" by 6" (cut it 6" by 6" and score at 3" and fold in half.)

I added the floral image from Spellbinders "Santa Lane Floral Die Cut Shapes" to the card with foam tape. This package of ready made die cuts is full of lots of pieces with so many sizes and options. You can check them out HERE.

I didn't use many because I really wanted to feature that Dazzling Diamonds letterpress look. Here's a close look at the floral image.

The sentiment is a sticker from the Spellbinders "Santa Lane Sticker Pack" stacked on several strips of cardstock for dimension.

Lastly I added a few white heart embellishments from my stash around the front of the card.

I hope you like my card for today.  It was so super fast to create and I love how it turned out.

  2. I love this card with the beautiful background with all the texture. The color looks like a card stock I used to own called Cranberry Tart. It
Is a gorgeous way to show off the pretty flowers.

  3. Another fabulous card. Love the colours used here and it makes a dramatic background using the plate as you did.
