Hello and welcome!
I've had a lot of questions about how to make these inked backgrounds with 3D embossing folders so today I created a short video showing the technique with three different die cutting machines.
I used the Memory Box "Blooming" 3D embossing folder with Salvaged Patina Distress Oxide ink, and a couple of different brayers, plus a water spray bottle with different inking techniques. I also explain the different plates sandwiches (combination of plates) that I use with Memory Box 3D folders.
I have noticed that all of the new 3D folders are not the same thickness, so today I only concentrated on the Memory Box brand - which are quite thick! Here's the short video. If you'd rather watch it on YouTube, just click on the logo in the video below. Please consider subscribing to my channel while you are there, I'd really appreciate it! (Below that is a short video showing a way to get a smoother background.)
I hope this video helps explain different ways you can achieve this look for your card backgrounds. It really is a trial and error process, so don't be afraid to do it several times until you get the result you are happy with. Have fun and thanks so much for stopping by!

great video Angie. Good to know the trusty Cuttlebug works well. I agree it's very dependant on the paper, the colour of ink and even the different folders. Trial and error for sure. Loved the card you made too
ReplyDeleteThanks for this helpful video. I've been trying to come up with something I like, but no luck yet, so I'll watch this video a couple more times before I give up on this beautiful folder I just bought!
ReplyDeleteI have never had success with this technique, Angie, and really appreciate how you showed all the various options and the results you achieved with each one. Bookmarking this to review again when I have the time to give this another go. Thank you so much! Hugs, Darnell
ReplyDeleteI love the look of this! Great way to use the embossing folder.
