Quick Thank You Card

Hello and happy Monday!  It was rough getting back into the swing of things after the Thanksgiving break - but we have made it through the day - YAY!

I had just a little time to play and was inspired by the challenge over at Shopping Our Stash to make a quick Thank You card - so here's my take on the challenge.

This card took only 5 minutes to make!  I used a plaid note card (from Hobby Lobby) but if you don't have those, you can just use any piece of designer paper or card stock cut to 8.5" by 4.25" and fold it in half.  I cut the outline thanks die (from Simon Says Stamp) right from the front of the card and added a piece of white card stock behind the top half of the card.  I cut the thanks from black and added it inside the opening, then took the whole card over and cut a scalloped edge (die from MFT) from the front.  I took the left over plaid and cut about 1/2 in off the bottom, then added it to the inside bottom of the card.  The little strip that was left, was used on the envelope to make it match the card.  In this picture below you can see I stamped sentiments from Simon Says Stamp's "Thoughtful Messages" stamp set and I was finished!

A quick and easy thank you card!  I plan to make quite a few of these for gift packs of cards for Christmas.  Everyone always needs thank you cards!

Here's one last picture where you can see the top flap closed all the way.

Hope and Joy Napkin Cards

Happy Sunday and welcome!  I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and if you're in the US, hope your Thanksgiving holiday was a happy one!  I had a little time to play today and am working on gift packs of cards these days.

For this pack of cards, I used a package of napkins I bought at the Dollar Tree for, you guessed it - $1.  You can see the napkin on the left in the picture above.

And I also used two new dies from Simon Says Stamp - their Hope and their Joy wafer thin dies.  These were in the newest kit, but to save money, I got just both dies and not the kit.

I really liked the napkin pattern and originally bought it with the idea of using it in Bible journaling, which is something I recently started doing.  (I'm not very good at it, but I have enjoyed the pages I've done so far.  I hope to learn from all the talented people in blog land and when I'm brave enough, I will share some pages on my blog!)

Anyway, I took one napkin and split it away from the backing and adhered parts of it to card stock to use for cards.  Some I cut with an MFT stitched rectangle die, the word dies, and for a few smaller scraps of the napkin I used some smaller stitched dies from my stash.  I also cut the word dies from ivory and black card stock from Gina K Designs.

There are a lot of pictures of these cards below - as I was able to make 6 from one napkin!

Here they are:

Just Us Girls Challenge #421 - Photo Week!

Hi and welcome to the last challenge of 2017. The Team will be taking the month of December off to spend with our families.  The Chic of the Week will be announced on the normal Friday [December 1] but after that... we are off. [Don't forget to come back in January 2018, and start the new year with Just Us Girls!]

Here's a bigger picture of Vicki's inspiration photo so you can see the detail better:

I hope you will stop by the Just Us Girls blog to see Trina, our guest designer's creation along with all of the DT's creations HERE.

And please stop by Judy Woodland's blog and leave her some love!  The JUGS team is so sad to see her go as this is her last post for JUGS.  We will all miss her amazing creations and the inspiration that she shared each week with us at JUGS!  Be sure to follow her by email so you won't miss any of her future work.  I know we will stay in touch, but I'm still so sad to see her leave!  HUGS Judy!!!

For my card I used the Simon Says "Ring Frame Die" and cut several out of different papers and Gina K Designs black card stock.  The red plaid is Lawn Fawn's Perfectly Plaid Christmas pad, and all the other papers are from two Gina K Designs paper packs:  Winter Cheer and Cold Snap

After assembling the ring with various inserts and adhering it to a white panel, I die cut that panel with the MFT stitched rectangle die and then adhered it to a turquoise plaid panel (Gina K) toward the bottom right.  I added two thin black strips for definition and the then added that whole panel to a Gina K white heavy card base.  The sentiment is from Gina K's Winter Cheer set.  Lastly I added Nuvo Glitter drops all around for some sparkle.

Santa's List is OUT!

Hello and welcome!  I made another holiday card, similar to the last one I made a few days ago.  Only this time it's Santa and his list!  I plan to make several of these to send to my grandkids before Christmas.  I think they will like them!

The main difference in this card is that I used the pinked edge rectangle that I cut out for the mask on my polar bear card and inked it instead of right on the card front.  I used all the same Distress Inks I used in greens, blues and purples.  One other difference is I sprayed it with lots of shimmer spray and water, but it's hard to capture the shine in the picture.  Here's a closer view:

The stamps were colored with Zigs and a water brush, and they are all from MFT's "Jingle All the Way" set.  The scalloped edge border is also from MFT.  The pinked edge die is from Avery Elle. The santa and present are popped up on foam tape and the sparkly snow is really Nuvo glitter drops.  This card was really a fun one to make!

Waving Hi Polar Bear

I had a little time to play in the cave today and watch part of my fav movie EVER - Christmas Vacation!  It's not even December yet and they are already starting to show it on TV.  That movie never fails to make me burst out laughing - it's just too funny!

So my card for today is made with blue, green and purple, Distress Oxide inks blended inside a die cut opening (I used Avery Elle Pinked Edges die) - then I added the MFT Edge border along the bottom and added the sentiment from MFT Polar Pals set.  I also used a bear and the bucket of fish from the same set.  I water colored them with Zigs and a water brush, then popped them up on foam tape for more dimension.  I added white gel pen for some snow and Nuvo glitter drops for other sparkly snow.  Love those Nuvo drops!  I had a lot of fun making this cute polar bear card and will send it to one of my grandkids that lives a few states away.  Miss those guys!

Here's another view where I tried to capture some of the sparkle - looks way sparklier in real life!

Hope your week is off to a great start and thanks so much for stopping by!

CAS Merry and Bright

Hello and welcome!  I hope you are having a great weekend!

I had a little time to play in the cave today, but first I went to a craft fair.  It never ceases to amaze me how clever and creative people are.  I saw some very unique things made with recycled jewelry and old books - just very inspiring!  And I was able to get a little Christmas shopping done too!

Now on to my card:  I started with a piece of Tim Holtz watercolor paper and watercolored it with Distress Inks in greens and reds, then I splattered a lot of black paint on it.  After it dried I stamped an older large plaid background stamp from Hero Arts in black ink on the watercolored panel.  Next I die cut a white panel with MFT's Stitched Rectangle die and Poppy Stamps "Leaf Collage" die. I put that over pieces of the watercolored panel to show through the leaves and stems.  Then I stamped the sentiment from MFT's Hand Lettered Holiday in Fired Brick Distress ink.  I took another panel and cut it down by 1/8 inch and inked the edges in red to match, then put the two panels together on the Gina K Designs heavy weight card base.  Lastly I added Gelly Roll glitter pen to the inside of the stems and leaves and added some Nuvo Jewel Drops.

It's hard to get a good picture of the glitter in the leaves, but you can see a little in this photo:

Sharp Little Kitty - Just a Note

Hello and welcome!

I wanted to make another entry for the CASology "Sharp" challenge and of course use sharps from music notation in my creation.  So I came up with this card using Gina K Designs card stock and "Just a Note" set, also from GKD.  I framed the images with Your Next Stamp Piercing Holes die and added a cute little kitty from MFT's "Up in the Air" stamp set that I colored with Prismacolor pencils.  I added a few punched black notes from a tiny Recollections punch in my stash.  Lastly I added washi tape to the sides of the card base, trimmed down the top panel and adhered it to the card base.

Quick and VERY easy card!

And on a personal note, I'd like to wish my 5 year old granddaughter good luck on her very first piano recital this Saturday.  I can't be there because they live in New Mexico, but she played her piece for me on FaceTime last night and she is going to do great!  Such a cutie!
They have promised to video and send it to this crazy grandma after the recital!
Can't wait to see it!

Have a great Thursday!
