"Hello" Rinea Foil Leaf Cards with Smooshing

Hello and welcome!

I have a couple of fun cards that I made today with "smooshing" Distress Oxide inks, Rinea foil, and stamps and dies from Newton's Nook Designs.  I have my supplies linked below if you are interested.

Both cards are very similar and were made the same, except I used a different arrangement of foil colors for each.  The Rinea foil I used came from the "Frosted Variety" and "Earth Tone" packs.  It's a quite thin paper foil so I adhered it to card stock before die cutting the different colors with Newton's Nook "Autumn Leaves" die set.  It has several sizes of leaves and that cute acorn that I used for the center of the leaf clusters.    Here's a closer look at my 2nd card, with the blue leaf on top.

To make the background for both cards I put lots of Distress Oxide inks in "Tumbled Glass", "Speckled Egg", and "Evergreen Bough" on my glass mat, then sprayed it with water and "smooshed" my watercolor card stock into the ink until I was happy with the look of each background piece.

The sentiment for both card is from Newton's Nook "Cuppa Cactus", heat embossed in white on a thin black card stock banner.  I popped the "hello" up on foam tape and the added Nuvo Jewel drops in "Seabreeze."  Here's a full picture of my first card.

If you notice the leaves are not adhered all the way down and bent upward to create dimension.
Here's a picture of the whole 2nd card:

I hope you like my leaf cards...I wanted to go with cooler colors for my card because it is soooo hot here in Texas where I live. Working with these colors really helped me feel cooler!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

  1. Love it. The smooshing is so soft behind the foiled die cuts.

  2. Your cards are stunning. The blue smooshing and clear Nuvo drops bring to mind leaves falling after a fall rainstorm. I like the way you curled the leaves, too.

Thanks for joining us at Cut it Up for our Create Your Own Background Paper challenge!
