Just Us Girls Challenge Word Week #517 - Snowflakes

Hello and welcome!

Happy new year from Just Us Girls - we are back for another year of fun weekly challenges and hope you can join us each week with your creations!

I am hosting this first challenge of 2020 - it's Word Week and the week I have chosen is "Snowflakes."

Check out the designs by our January guest Mary Deatherage along with the whole design team on the JUGS blog - I'm sure you will find inspiration from everyone's creations!
(Next week we will have a 2nd guest designer joining us too.)

This time of year, lots of you have snow.  In Texas we don't get much snow, unless you live in the panhandle up north.  But I have lived in colder climates and always loved the snow and actually miss it a lot!  In celebration of our new challenge, I have made 2 cards using the same supplies.

Here's a close look at my first card.

I have linked my supplies below if you are interested in them.

I used some Simon Says ink inside a snowflake embossing folder then ran it through.  I also took the ink and went directly to paper to create a pretty solid panel.  I cut both large panels with a dotted rectangle die then cut a square from the center and exchanged the two.  I popped the rectangle up on foam tape, the added the stacked snowflakes and the stacked word die cut.  The snowflakes and word dies for my 2 cards were cut from white, black and mirror card stock.

The second card has only one snowflake die cut on it.  Also, once I put the light embossed square inside the darker blue rectangle, I lined it up in my embossing folder and dry embossed the whole panel.
I didn't do that on the first card because I planned to use 3 snowflakes on the first card and embossing the center would make it look too busy for me.

Here's a close look at my 2nd card:

I hope you will find the time to join us for our "Snowflakes" challenge this week!
I can't wait to see what you make.
Check out all the challenge details HERE.

Thanks for stopping by!

  6. Wow, Angie!. Both cards are fabulous. The black inserts on the first card make it very dramatic. Embossing the entire card gave a totally different look to the second one.
