Just Us Girls Challenge #513 - Anything But a Card

Hello and welcome!

Today starts a brand new trend challenge over at Just Us Girls hosted by Carol
and she has chosen:  Anything but a Card

Be sure to stop by the JUGS blog to check out our guest designer,  Kristin Sluhan and the whole team - they've prepared some amazing inspiration for you today!

For my project, I have some earrings that I made for a local music store and that sells my creations and are also for sale in my Etsy shop called Cimbacreations.  I recycle and repurpose music items, like used violin/viola/cello pegs and strings from violin, viola, cello, and bass instruments.  I have a dear friend who owns a music store nearby and he sells my crafts there.

If you are interested in any of these, check out my Etsy store HERE.

The pairs of earrings I made for inspiration for this JUGS challenge were made with combinations of vintage textured sheet music, leather, stamped cork and the end beads from used violin strings.

This pair was made with black leather, vintage sheet music that was textured with Goosebumps spray and inked with Distress Ink.  The small bead between the two jump rings is the end bead from a used violin/viola string.

This next pair was made with cork that was stamped with a music stamp, brown textured leather, and also has a violin or viola end of string bead between the two jump rings.

I hope I have inspired you to think outside the box a little and see if there is anything you can use to recycle and craft with.  I really enjoy trying to figure out ways to use the recycled items I get from the local music store.  I can't wait to see what you create!

Be sure to check out the JUGS blog for lots of inspiration!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

  5. I’ve seen similar earrings but nothing made from recycled musical instruments. These are fantastic, Angie!

  6. Wow Angie I sooooooooo love those earrings and how cool that you have used recycled bits and bobs. I have managed to 'aquire' a few bits from my hubby's guitar obsession. Will have to see what else I can sneak away with. What an interesting 'other hobby' you have. Your creativeness knows no bounds.
