Hello and welcome!
It's a brand new challenge at Just Us Girls and this week's host is Carol.
Here's the word she has chosen:
Summer is almost over, so we all want to get in one last hurrah before school starts in the fall!
I would love to go to the beach, so that's the theme of my card - A Beach Adventure!
Don't forget to stop by the JUGS blog to see what our amazing guest designer, Tristan Dawes has made to inspire you! And while you're there, check out my teammates amazing creations too!
For my card I used a panel that I had watercolored this past fall, while I was taking a watercolor class in a local city's recreation class with a friend. We had a lot of fun and our teacher was really sweet. I had practiced at home and made a bunch of water to sky backgrounds with techniques she taught us, but I have never used any of them on cards because I didn't really like any of them. I was able to take this one and cut a portion of it that looked much better than the rest and use it for my background.
Here's a closer look:
All of my supplies are linked below except Cheapo Dies' "Palm Trees"
(which I picked up when I designed for Dies R Us Inspiration Team last year.)
I did a lot of cutting in different colors and added color to some pieces for dimension and also did a lot of glueing and paper piecing little die cut pieces back together. I also did some inking/zig marker shading on the card stock pieces that I cut before I put them together. This way the die is very colorful instead of using it all black as a silhouette piece.
Here's one last look:
I hope you will find time to join our summer challenge this week!
All the details are right HERE!
I can't wait to see what you make!
Thanks so much for stopping by!

Your watercolor panel looks great to me, Angie. You'd better pull out the other ones too because with the wonderful palm trees and that little island you could make multiples of this design.
ReplyDeleteThat watercolor background is gorgeous! I love your little island scene and your patience to piece all of this little pieces together!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the die cut Summer you got going on here. :)
ReplyDeleteAngie, your island is calling me - I can picture myself on a hammock between those palm trees.
ReplyDeleteGreat card and that water-colour card background looks perfect. You must be very patient to do all that paper-piecing........ Thank you for joining us at Cardz4Galz. :) Lynda DT

Echoing the others: your watercolour panel is lovely and perfect for this inviting, I-want-to-be-there beach scene! Yes, please to palm trees, beaches and beautiful sunrises and sunsets!

What a great way to add dimension to die cut pieces Angie. Love the idea of a tropical island and would be perfectly happy there on my own for a bit (as long as I could bring my craft stash!)
