Hello and welcome!
I recently picked up these amazing thick paper pieces by Heidi Swapp that had very thick open patterns (4 different in the pack) - almost like thin wood stencils.
They are 5" by 7" and called Wanderlust Lace Pack.
I've had a lot of fun playing with them and here's one of the card I made by using it as a stencil. I laid it on my card front and inked with Distress and Distress Oxides in lighter colors, then direct to paper used my Versamark ink pad to coat the inked areas. Next I used clear embossing powder on it and dried it with my heat tool.

Here's a closer look at the embossed shine:
The sentiment is a die from Winnie & Walter and the greetings is from Altenew Birthday Greetings stamp set, heat embossed on black card stock and cut into a banner.
The background was so busy, I didn't want to add much to it.
I also made another card with the actual paper piece as seen below:
After inking the first card base with this thick paper stencil like rose panel, I cut a scalloped circle from the center and used it on top of a black piece of card stock. I added that to a card base that I had inked with some of the same Distress ink colors and added the Simon Says Stamp "Hope" die.
Here's another view:
