Just Us Girls Word Week Challenge #465 - Music

Hello and welcome!

Today starts a new challenge over at Just Us Girls and this week our host is the amazing Sue!
She has chosen a word dear to my heart - Music.

Be sure to stop by the JUGS blog to see the inspiration from our guest designer, Clair Garland and the whole team!

As many of you know I am a music teacher.  I taught for 34 years, as an orchestra director (band director for the 1st 6 years) and a private lesson teacher, etc.  I retired from full-time teaching in 2013, continued conducting a youth orchestra in 2014 and then retired from that.

I then took a part-time job at a Catholic high school nearby.  I only teach one orchestra class there, and since they are on block scheduling, I teach 1.5 hours every other day.  That leaves lots of time for crafting!!

My card today was made with a stamp sent to me by my JUGS teammate, Nancy.  She sent me a whole box of music stamps that she was destashing - I was so excited to get them all!
This one is a large rubber stamp by Stamps Happen, Inc. designed by Troy Crisswell and it also says Arts Uniq.Inc on the side of the stamp.  The name of the stamp is "Overture", and it's very large.

I stamped, embossed and colored it and then cut out the section I wanted to use.

Other supplies used were:
Versafine Clair Nocturne Ink
Clear embossing powder
Zig Clean Color Markers
Your Next Stamp Sentiments 4
Spellbinders Deckled Rectangle dies
Tea Dye Distress Ink
Make up brush for inking the edges
White and black card stock

Here's a closer view:

I hope you will find time to play this week with our music challenge at the JUGS blog!
I can't wait to see what you make!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

  8. I thought of you the minute I saw the word of the week, Angie. The beautifully colored violin is perfect atop the music score and I love the deckle edge black behind it all.
