Today I am using the brand new set called "Lighthouse", that is now available in the Joy Clair store.
I fell in love with this set the minute I saw it!
Here's a look at the set:
I fell in love with this set the minute I saw it!
Here's a look at the set:
It's a beautiful set with a boat, light house, three sentiments and some light rays too!
Here's how I made my first card:
Here's how I made my first card:
The first thing I did was to stamps some boats and lighthouses on card stock and masking paper, then fussy cut them for use on my projects. Then I took an A2 card panel and stamped it with the Joy Clair Wood Background stamp in light tan ink for a subtle wood background.
For my first card, I used the boat and the "Guide me, O Lord" sentiment.
I used two circle dies from Sizzix to make a nautical window out of kraft card stock. Then I got ready to do some more stamping and masking.
I used water wave stamps from Joy Clair's "Anchor of Hope" stamp set to add waves around the boat. I also used the sun, cloud and bird stamps from Joy Clair's "Get Well Wishes" for my scene.
Next I used Distress Inks to ink the background and to cut out the circle to set inside the nautical window.
After masking the boat, I had planned on coloring the boat in the scene, then changed my mind and decided to color a separate one with alcohol markers and pop it up over the white one. Same with the sun, after coloring it, I popped it up over the white sun and over the edge of the window too.
If you look in the top left corner you can see the brad's I used to edge around the window. I also attached a navy blue anchor die, cut with an MFT die. (And you can also see the first scene I had originally put inside the circle - That one didn't turn out the way I wanted, so I redid it.)
Next I added lots of sparkle to the sun and water around the boat, here's a closer view of the sun's sparkle:
Here's another look at my finished card:
For my next project I used the lighthouse stamp and made two different cards, one in black and one in white. Let me know in the comments which one you like best, black or white!
I stamped the two sentiments I wanted to use with my Misti and Versafine Clair ink and cut one with a stitched rectangle die and the other with a circle die.
For my white card I inked a Tim Holtz Rays stencil with Distress Ink and for my black card I inked a whole white A2 panel with the same ink, darkest in the center and fading out toward the edges.
I cut a sunburst cover panel die from black card stock and one from white card stock to see which I would like to use. I ended up with the black one because the sentiment says: "light piercing the darkness" - and that helped me decide to use the black to simulate darkness. I colored the lighthouses with Zig Clean color markers. Then I glued all the parts together on the black one.
To finish the white card, I added some black dotted ribbon to the left side and on top and bottom of the sentiment's stitched rectangle die. Here's the finished white card:
And the finished black one with an added heart!
Thanks so much for stopping by! I had a lot of fun combining the new Joy Clair Lighthouse stamp set with the Joy Clair Anchor of Hope set, he Joy Clair Get Well Wishes set and the Joy Clair Wood Background stamp to make my first card. And just the new set to make the next two cards!
