Joy Clair Refuel My Soul - Mardi Gras

Hello and welcome!  I'm here with some inspiration for the  Joy Clair -Special Event - Mardi Gras!

Here's the inspiration photo:

I used the colors purple, green and yellow for my creation!

And here's the new release stamp set I used:  Joy Clair's Refuel My Soul

Here's how I made my card:
1)  I inked some layering weight white card stock with Distress Inks in the challenge colors, then die cut the Simon Says Stamp Circle Leaves die from it.  I only used the leaves section and cut the rest away with my scissors.  After placing it where I wanted it, on the top folding card base, I inked the sun rays with a stencil from Tim Holtz and Distress ink.

2) I stamped the sentiment from the new release Joy Clair stamp set "Refuel My Soul".    I stamped it in purples and greens multiple times to get a deeper color.  Then I added sparkle pen to the leaves.

3)  I cut a thin strip of the inked card stock and added it to the bottom to give it more definition.  I trimmed off the excess and added a few dots of Nuvo drops.  I later decided they were too light and changed them out for black enamel dots.

4)  I put strips of striped paper on the inside of the card on both the left and right side, and then cut away some of the front so that the stripes would be visible even with the card closed.

5)   I had originally cut out two sets of leaves, the more solidly colored one that I used first, and also another one that I had watercolored and it was quite a bit more spotted and splattered looking.  I decided to layer the splattered one on top of the solid one, slightly off center for interest.

Here is my finished card:

I love that verse and plan to send this to a family member who could really use some encouragement right now!  Check out the new Joy Clair stamp set "Refuel My Soul".
