Watercolored Vellum Birthday Wishes

It's New Year's Eve and I've been playing in the cave today.  Today is my youngest's bday and she's on a fun trip for her bday!  I've been working on birthday cards to try to build up my stash.

This one was made with Paper Smooches Adorable Array die cut from watercolored paper (Distress Crayons) and from GKD black card stock.  The Sending die is from SSS and the sentiment is from Wplus9 Sending Hoping Wishing stamp set.  Other papers used are white card stock from GKD, dotted vellum over black card stock and I also used some fun foam to pop the top panel up a little and finished it with some Wink of Stella on all of the die cuts.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

I'll be entering this in the Cut it Up Out with the Old and in with the New Challenge (old were the dies, watercolors and card stock, new was the dotted vellum paper)

and in the Simon Says Monday Party Time challenge (birthdays are parties - right?)
and in the Cute Card Thursday Challenge and in the Cas-ual Fridays Celebration Challenge

Silver and Gold Ornaments

My last card for the day using glitter patterned paper from The Paper Studio, sentiment die is from Impression Obsession, ornaments are circle dies from Sizzix, white gel pen for the ornament hangers.
Thanks so much for stopping by!

I will enter this card in the:

Silver Glitter Butterfly

Who doesn't love a little glitter???  This card was made with glitter patterned paper from The Paper Studio and the Jillibean Soup stamp set - Butterfly Heart Flutter, white card stock from Gina K Designs, scalloped stitched rectangle die from Wplus9, and Nuvo Silver glitter drops.  I stamped the butterfly on the card base and on another pice of glitter paper, then fussy cut it and only adhered the center so it would have some dimension.  I plan to add gems to the middle of the butterfly before mailing this card!  Here are a few more views and thanks so much for stopping by!

Silver Just For You Rose

I've been playing with watercoloring and trying to practice with different watercolors today.  This card was made with Altenew's Penned Rose set, Zig Clean Color markers, water brush, and Kuretake watercolors on Arches cold pressed watercolor paper, Hero Arts silver embossing powder, white and black Gina K Designs card stock, silver striped glitter paper from Paper Studio, and black Enamel Dots.  I will be entering this in the AAA Game #80 Silver Challenge and the Simon Says Wednesday Challenge.

New Challenge @ Mod Squad Challenge Blog - Warm & Toasty!

Hi everyone!  I'm hosting a new challenge at the
The Mod Squad Challenge Blog - Warm and Toasty!

My first card was made with MFT Let's Get Toasty set and the envelope was made with Altenew's Happy Mail set.  The MFT Let's Get Toasty set is so versatile - you can use it in the winter and in the summer for camping cards too!

I stamped roasting sticks and sentiment in Hero Arts black ink, the flames in Fired Brick Distress Ink and Fossilized Amber Distress Ink, then I fussy cut the marshmallows and colored them with Prismacolor pencils and Gamsol Mineral Spirits.  The gray snowflake patterned paper is from my stash.  I used my ATG gun to glue the top panels together, then to the card base.  One marshmallow was popped up with pop dots
I finished the card off with Wink of Stella

I made a 2nd card too!

My second card was made with Concord & 9th Cozy Up Stamps  and matching dies and the envelope was made with Altenew's Happy Mail set.  I stamped sentiment and cups with their names in Hero Arts black ink then die cut them.  Then I colored them with Prisamacolor pencils and Gamsol Mineral Spirits.  Guess what's in the yellow mug? The snowflake washi tape is from my stash.  I used my ATG gun to put the coffee cups on the corners.

I have one more picture showing both sides of the envelops - there are SO many cute stamps in this Altenew's Happy Mail set.
Check out the stamps I used from that set on the envelopes!

Watercolor Comparison Zigs/Kuretake

I used the Altenew "Penned Rose" stamp set to do a little comparison of my watercoloring.  I do struggle with watercoloring and need to practice a lot more.  The card on the left (little more orange in color) was watercolored with Zig Clean Color Markers and a water brush.  The one on the right with Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolors.  I seem to have a lot more trouble controlling the Kuretake and I need to practice more with them as several of the highlighted areas got covered with darker color even after going back to add more highlights...oh well, they say practice makes perfect.  The Zigs are so much easier to control and blend really nicely.  I used Arches French cold pressed watercolor paper since so many people recommended it - this was my first time to use that paper and I have to agree - it's the best for watercoloring for sure!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Here's a larger view of the Zig card:

And here's a closer view of the Kuretake card:
