I really struggle with CAS cards. I can't seem to get the hang of it. Mine always look plain so I keep adding elements. I look at other CAS cards and think wow that's pretty. My only successful CAS cards are CASED ones! Haha! This one started with just the cup and sentiment....before you know it I've added washi tapes then some embossing, then more washi tape and a die cut border. I should take a CAS class so maybe I could get that balanced look on my card that all those pro card makers out there do!
Supplies used:
White cardstock, washi tape in teal and orange, markers in teal, and navy for cup and saucer, brown for coffee and gray for steam and shading below cup. Stamps from Fiskars Latte Love set, bottom front cut with Avery Elle Dotted border die, We R Memories Next Generation embossing folder.
Entering in:
Well it may not be extreme CAS, but I think the elements all work together very well. The cuppa motif is perfect with the embossing which reminds me of a comfy blanket.

DeleteI'm with Maria; sometimes CAS is not just an image on a white background. You've got lots of white space, not too many embellishments or layers, so in my world, this constitutes CAS. And well done, by the way. You've used the colors perfectly. Sweet little cup too! Love the zig-zag edge. Bev
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteThis is pretty although for us it would have been better as your first version, without the washi tape and the cut border, which in fact add layers! Be brave and leave lots of white space and let the images speak for themselves! You'll soon get used to it!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much

Thank you Chrissie, I appreciate your encouragement!
DeleteReally pretty card, though the washi tape means it's not truly a one layer card. If you leave lots of space then your image takes centre stage with no distractions. CASEing is fine, keep practising, don't give up!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your entry

Anne, thank you for giving me encouragement, I do really struggle with when to stop adding things!!! I will continue to CASE - I won't give up!
DeleteI think you totally achieved the CAS look and the extra elements you added-embossing, washi-both really add some visual interest to your card! Thank you for playing along with The Challenge this week!
ReplyDeleteThanks Lesley, I apreciate your sweet comments!
DeleteAs my teamies have mentioned, this is a little busy for Less is More, although it's still a lovely CAS card. That said, I do like the effect of the embossing over the inking! It took me a while to get the hang of true CAS cards but the simplest are now my favourites. Lots of white space, crisp clean stamping (which you have achieved perfectly here) and walk away :) Please do join us again.

ReplyDeleteI have the same problem sometimes with making CAS cards. I think yours qualifies well --- lots of white space and minimal layers or embellishments. Glad you played The Challenge! ( I'm a tad late visiting.)
