Crackled Background and Border Birthday Cards

I watched Tim Holtz in this video use Distress Oxide inks on glossy paper, heating in between layers and using his heat tool to dry between applications.  Then he added Micro Glaze to bring out the shine and color of each layer.  Well, mine didn't work so much like his!  

First, I didn't use Tim Holtz glossy paper.  I used some glossy paper in my stash that of course I had NO idea what the brand was.  But obviously it wasn't the right kind.  When I dried mine with the heat tool, it started crackling and looking kind of weird.  But after I was done, I actually like it so I used it to make 2 birthday cards.

Here's a couple of close up views so you can see the crackled background:

The flower dies are retired from Paper Smooches and so is the black birthday sentiment.  The white sentiment is from Altenew heat embossed on black card stock.  Thanks so much for stopping by!

Sending Happy Fall Wishes

Hello and welcome!

I have a fun fall card for you today made with goodies from Winnie & Walter.

Here's how I made my card.  

1) I laid out some Distress Inks, water and with watercolor paper I smooshed the paper into the ink and paper, drying between layers.

2)  Next, I cut the "happy" die from the watercolor paper and stacked it 3 high (2 brown dies cuts on the bottom.)

3)  I stamped the words with brown ink, the leaves with Distress Inks, and then stenciled with Clarity Stencil brushes, some of the same colors with an Echo Park plaid stencil that is no longer available.  I repositioned it 3 times, each time I changed colors.

4)  I cut the panel with a dotted rectangle die and matted that on brown card stock.

5) I added foam tape on the bottom of the panel so I could pop it up on the card base.

6)  I added the watercolored die cut off the edge of the rectangle.

7)  Lastly, I added some Nuvo Jewel drops.
